Our Ethos

Bright Swans Day Nursery offer babies and children from three months to five-years a stimulating, nurturing, loving environment in which to thrive and learn, creating curious minds whilst gently readying them for their next big adventure, reception school.

It’s our aim to carefully bridge the gap between home, nursery and school. We do this in a number of ways, from providing a secure, happy ‘home-from-home’ experience where children feel comfortable and cared for, to encouraging independence by allowing children to flow freely from activity to activity, from indoors to the natural surroundings of outdoors.

We also provide an extensive range of exciting and engaging individual and group play-based activities to help babies and children develop new skills, paving the way for a brilliant start to school life.

Stimulating Activities to Support the EYFS framework

Our aim is to provide your child with a wide variety of engaging and fun activities to help them make friends easily, gain confidence and communicate what they want – all the qualities they need for a brilliant start to school life.

As well as brilliant fun, our planned activities underpin the seven important areas of learning and development outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework If you would like to find out more about the EYFS, please click here.

At Bright Swans Day Nursery, we strive to inspire every child’s love of learning, starting with a rich, diverse curriculum based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

Designed to give your child the very best start in life and ensure they are ‘school ready’, the EYFS is divided into seven key areas of learning and development. The first three areas – Prime Areas – are the areas children usually develop first: Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

Helping your child to learn and grow with a rich curriculum

As your child grows, the EYFS focuses on four further areas of development – Specific Areas – which are: Literacy, Math’s, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Alongside this we run our own dedicated educational programmed to complement and enhance the EYFS seven areas of learning. Carefully designed to reinforce the children’s understanding, our learning programme takes a varied and innovative approach to key topics, helping to truly engage and raise their curiosity.

The programme is divided across three age groups with the number of topics expanding as the children grow. By the time the children reach pre-school age, they take multiple topics, including Jolly Phonics, Letters and Sounds, All carefully tailored programme help to prepare them for the next exciting step, starting school.

Keyworker Partners – Supporting your child’s learning

Experience shows a successful way of working with our children is via a keyworker system. This is where your child is assigned to a highly trained members of staff to look after your child as part of a small group. Your child’s KEY WORKER WILL be on display. As well as giving them one-to-one attention, your child’s keyworkers ensure their needs are being met and that they are making positive steps in each area of the EYFS.

One of the ways keyworkers do this is to observe and assess your child on an on-going basis to get to know their specific interests and unique learning style. In turn this information is used to create an individual learning plan to enable them to reach their full learning potential with ‘next steps planning’.
